When do we celebrate Baptism?
Baptism is often celebrated on Sundays during Mass. Children can be baptized as soon as they are born; you only need to make an appointment with Father. If you are interested in receiving the Sacrament of Baptism, please call the parish office for further information. Baptism for adults is a part of Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or RCIA.

Why is Holy Baptism Important?
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua),4 and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word."

The Sacrament of Baptism is the door to a new and supernatural life that frees us from original sin, confers sanctifying grace, and makes us members in Christ and in His Church. Baptism is the foundation of the unity that all Christians have in Christ: a unity we must seek to perfect. In Baptism we promise to reject sin, and the glamour of evil, and Satan, the father of sin and prince of darkness; and, we profess our faith in one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We commit ourselves to membership in Christ's church and to strive for life everlasting in a life of service to God. Parents who are seeking Baptism for their child, as well as adults who wish to be baptized, are asked to contact the Pastor, who will assist in their preparation for this Sacrament and make the necessary arrangements. - The parents consent, or at least one of them, or someone legally standing in their place,
- and that there be reasonable hope that the child will be brought up in the Catholic faith.
- A person may have one or two godparents (also called sponsors);

- if two are chosen, they must be male and female.

- be a confirmed Roman Catholic, who has already received the Most Holy Eucharist,
- leading a life in harmony with the Catholic Faith (including Marriage) and will be a good role model for the one being Baptized,
- and be neither the father nor the mother of the child;
- A baptized person who belongs to another Christian community may be admitted only as a Christian witness (not a godparent) provided that there is at least one Roman Catholic godparent who fulfills the above criteria.
- A non-baptized person cannot be a witness.
