Month of November

Month of November

During the month of November, we remember and pray for all our faithful departed. You are invited to write the names of your deceased loved ones in the Book of the Names of the Dead, which is located at the back of the church. These names will be remembered in a special way during our November Masses.

Let us take this time to pray especially for those who have died from our parish and from our families, that they may share in the eternal joy and peace of God’s Kingdom.

To include a name, please sign the book or contact Nancy in the parish office at 403-652-2203 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
Deadline: October 31, 2025.

Candle Light Service for All Souls

Candle Light Service for All Souls

Candle Light Service for All Souls

As November approaches — a time when we prayerfully remember all the faithful departed — we wish to share a small update regarding our annual Candle Mass.

This year, since the Feast of All Souls falls on a Saturday, our Candle Light Service will take place on Monday, November 3rd at 7:00 p.m.

This special Mass is dedicated to all the deceased from our parish and our families. During the service, we will remember our departed loved ones through prayer and the lighting of candles.

If you have a family member or friend who has passed away between November 2024 and the present, please contact Nancy so their name can be included in the Candle Light Service.
If their funeral was not held here, you may bring a photo along with their name, date of birth, and date of death.

A reception will follow in the church hall.
All are welcome!

Celebrating 100 Years of CWL at St. Francis de Sales Parish!

Celebrating 100 Years of CWL at St. Francis de Sales Parish!

This weekend, we joyfully celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Catholic Women’s League at St. Francis de Sales Parish — a century of faith, dedication, and loving service to God and His people. What an extraordinary milestone!

For one hundred years, the women of our CWL have been a pillar of our parish community. Through prayers, acts of charity, education, and community support, they have strengthened our parish in countless ways. Their unwavering commitment reminds us all that faith is best lived through action and service.

As your parish priest, I must say it is hard to imagine St. Francis de Sales Parish without the CWL. From my perspective, the collaboration between clergy and this wonderful group of women has been a true blessing. Your generosity, dedication, and spirit of service make parish life richer, more joyful, and full of grace. I wish that every priest could be blessed with such a committed and loving community to work with!

We give heartfelt thanks and congratulations to all members — past and present — for their dedication, prayers, and hard work. Your faith and love have left an enduring mark on our parish and inspired generations of parishioners.

As we celebrate this remarkable milestone this weekend, let us also pray for the continued growth and blessing of this vibrant ministry, that it may keep guiding, uplifting, and serving our parish community for many more years.

Prayer of Gratitude and Blessing:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the faithful women of the Catholic Women’s League at St. Francis de Sales Parish. Bless them abundantly for their prayers, their service, and their love. May they continue to be instruments of Your mercy, witnesses of Your Gospel, and a light of hope in our parish and community. Strengthen them in faith, courage, and joy as they continue their mission for generations to come. Amen.

Congratulations, CWL! Your century of dedication and love is a shining example for all of us. Let us celebrate with joy and gratitude.

Apostolic Exhortation “Dilexi te” of Pope Leo XIV

Apostolic Exhortation “Dilexi te” of Pope Leo XIV

On October 9, 2025, Pope Leo XIV promulgated his first Apostolic Exhortation, Dilexi te (“I Have Loved You”), a work begun by Pope Francis and now completed under Leo’s own hand. The document is a powerful meditation on the love of Christ for the poor and on the Church’s calling to stand in solidarity with the weakest. In it, the Holy Father invites all believers to see in the face of the poor the face of Christ, and to respond with compassion, justice, and mercy.

Pope Leo underscores that God’s love is not abstract, but is revealed in caring for those who suffer: materially, socially, spiritually. He reminds us that poverty has many dimensions—lack of resources, exclusion, loss of dignity—and challenges us not to ignore these realities. The Church is called to be not just for the poor, but with them, walking alongside them, uplifting them, listening to them, and learning from them.

In the Exhortation, we also find reflections on education, migration, structural injustice, and the need for concrete action. The poor are not merely recipients of charity; as Pope Leo says, they are “teachers of the Gospel.” To serve the poor is to encounter Christ Himself.

I encourage you wholeheartedly to read and reflect on Dilexi te. Let its message awaken in each of us a renewed commitment to love in action—through small daily gestures, advocacy, prayer, and generosity. May it deepen your compassion and inspire you to stand more courageously beside those in need.

  • French version: Exhortation apostolique Dilexi te (Français) — via the Vatican website (Vatican)

Let us pray that our community may become ever more faithful to the call of Christ to love the poor, and that we may become living witnesses of his merciful heart.
