The impact of MAiD on Canadians living with disabilities - A New Report

Ten years after the Supreme Court’s Carter decision legalized euthanasia (MAiD) in Canada, Cardus has released a report by Alexander Raikin analyzing its impact on Canadians with disabilities.The findings show a stark contrast between what the Court expected and the Canadian reality: a disproportionate number of MAiD deaths involve people with disabilities, many without adequate supports; nearly half of patients reported feeling like a burden; and loneliness and depression are increasingly cited as reasons for accessing MAiD.
